Tragedy Strikes at a New Years Charity Pram Race

People often love taking part in charity races especially wherre there is an element of uniqueness to them. Francis O'Sullivan did just that. Francis was part of a three man team that entered a New Years' charity pram race in Kent but tragically died from a serious head injury when he fell from the pram after colliding with other competitors.

He was airlifted to a London hospital but died in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

Mr O'Sullivan's sister paid tribute to her "beutiful brother" posting "My beautiful brother tragic accident whilst competing in the Sutton Valence pram race."

"Love you always and forever in our thoughts a great Brother, Dad and Uncle. may you sleep tight and smile down on us. Sweet dreams. Loveyou forever your family.""

This tragedy highlights the need for having a professional on site medical provision at events. Whilst the tragedy may not have been avoided life-saving care could have been delivered more readily in the time between accident and the arrival of the air ambulance which air lifted Mr O'Sullivan to a major trauma centre in London.
