Honorary Chaplain
Reverend Graham Smith is Honorary Chaplain to the Event Medicine Company. Before ordination Graham had served as a Weapon Engineer Officer with the Royal Navy and so after serving in Canterbury Diocese for his initial parish appointment he returned to the Royal Navy as a Chaplain.
Graham, as well as serving in a number of front-line appointments, has served as Chaplain to the Royal Naval Hospital at Haslar where as well as providing general pastoral care and support to staff and patients he became involved in more specialist work amongst sufferers of PTSD.
After leaving the Royal Navy Graham has served as a Chaplain with Sussex Police and as a Hospital Chaplain in Portsmouth specialising in Critical Care and he remains a registered healthcare chaplain.
In terms of pre-hospital care Graham was admitted as a registrant on the Health Professions Council’s register of Paramedics and practises as a Paramedic within the Hampshire and Sussex Areas with NHS Contractors, the Event Medicine Company and also as a Senior Volunteer with St John Ambulance.
Graham brings to the Event Medicine Company Chaplaincy Role experience and training as a Trauma Stress Practitioner as well as the understanding of pre-hospital and critical care support.
