Mr David Findlay BSc (Hons) SRPara
Paramedic Manager
David Findlay is a Registered Paramedic and has been the Event Medicine Company's Paramedic Manager since the formation of the Company.
After leaving the MoD as a Research Scientist, David joined Royal Berkshire Ambulance Service (now part of South Central Ambulance Service) in 1995. Previously David has worked through the ranks as a Paramedic Work Based Assessor, Lead Assessor, and Operational Supervisor and now holds the position of Emergency Preparedness Manager.
As well as working for the Ambulance Service David has previous medical service with National voluntary organisations in both Scotland and England. Currently he is a member of St John Ambulance.
He has lengthy experience of mass gatherings including football stadia, music concerts (indoor and outdoor) air shows, all types of equestrian events, athletic events, state occasions and foreign state visits. He has experience of working with Personal Protection Officers and is used to working at events with VIP clients.
He was appointed the St John Ambulance Hampshire Advisor on Pre-Hospital Trauma and was a member of the Medical Advisory Panel within Hampshire until 2008. From 2004 until 2008 he was County Ambulance Officer within Hampshire St John Ambulance. In 2008 he was appointed as a Serving Brother by St. John Ambulance.
He is trained by the Royal Marine Commando as an Advanced Practitioner in Trauma Stress Risk Assessment.
From 2002 to 2006 he was a guest lecturer at the University of Portsmouth on spinal trauma.
He has experience in Major Incidents as the Forward Incident Officer/Triage Officer on the M25 November 2002 as well as the Sector Officer on the Major Incident A34 November 2004. He has extensive experience in Major Incident Exercises. Within South Central Ambulance Service he works as one of the Trust’s on-call Tactical Advisors.
Since November 2004 he has been HEMS trained to work on the Thames Valley and Chiltern Air Ambulance.
