Trafalgar 200
2005 saw a series of events to commemorate the two hundredth anniversary of the Battle of Trafalgar.
The largest of these was a fleet review of Royal Navy vessels along with visiting ships from many other Countries moored in the Solent and inspected by HM The Queen.
The Event Medicine Company was contracted to provide the cover for an estimated quarter of a million spectators who gathered on Southsea Common.
83 staff provided cover to an event footprint that encompassed an area from Old Portsmouth taking in Southsea Common eastwards to South Parade Pier.
This was covered using a range of mobile medical assets, bicycle paramedics, ambulances and three first aid posts.
In addition a major casualty clearing centre was established on Southsea Common which during the course of the 18 hour deployment handled 291 casualties of whom only 15 required onward referral to hospital.
